Abstract

The purpose of this note is to record the transfer of part of a Formica Rufa colony from Bansha Forest and its establishment in Lacken Wood, Enniskerry State Forest. (Nat. Grid. ref. 0-19.15). Since it may be considered worthwhile to say something about the life and habits of this interesting woodland ant, I have compiled the following, mainly from Donislthorpe's "British Ants"...
