Abstract

Finland is about 337,000 square kilometers in extent. It has a population of about 4.7 million people and population density at 15 per square kilometer is very low. As in most European countries, demographic change has been marked over the past 30 years. In 1950 more than 45% of the workforce ws employed in forestry and agriculture.
